In this session, we will refresh our understanding of the "TPACK" model and how it can grow capacity targeted at planning, implementing, and assessing of digital learning activities. We will also discuss how the TPACK can open the door for 4C integration: Critical Thinking, Collaboration, Communication and Creativity.
Learning Outcomes
After this session, participants will be able to:
Reflect and articulate the value and challenges of effective learning experiences supported by TPACK and reflecting on what the TPACK model will look like in your school/district
Creating a short one minute video capturing your vision for being Focused, Ready, and Connected in implementing TPACK in your schools/districts, using the 4C's as your guide
I. TPACK 2.0 | Refreshing our TPACK Lens
TPACK goes beyond looking at each of these areas (Technology, Pedagogy and Content Knowledge), in isolation, rather it tries to explore the complex relationships between each of these types of knowledge. Most importantly, it encourages educators to explore and understand these relationships. If an educator has a grasp or understanding of these relationships, it is more likely to lead to effective and purposeful technology integration.
We can all agree that these concepts are nothing new, but the conversations exploring the relationships between these three areas are essential.
TPACK Assessment ThingLink
You will notice a question in each of TPACK's T, P, and C circles. Take a moment and consider at least one of these questions and answer it using Today's Meet, a simple on-the-spot chat window.
II. Moving Forward to Focus, Connect, and be Ready
We have talked about the TPACK model, discussed some possibilities of how to begin the TPACK conversation with your school and staff, but what is your plan for rolling out this model?
Using Popplet to collaborate with those sitting with you, discuss how you plan to roll the TPACK model out to your staff; consider when, where, and how you envision sharing the model.
The 4Cs, Critical Thinking, Collaboration, Communication and Creativity are all elements that we want driving our student centered learning.
Through the 4Cs, you will, with your team, create a one minute video that will capture what you learned from the SAMR Activity and how you plan to share TPACK with your school/district.
For this activity, you will use a Flip camera, and sticky notes (for quick story boarding) to create a 1 minute video.
Critical Thinking What did you learn from the TPACK activities today? How do you plan to share TPACK with your school/district? _
Communication At your table, share your ideas/answers to the question above. _
Collaboration Use the sticky pads at your table to collaboratively design/storyboard your video content in a way that clearly communicates your team's response to the guiding question above. _
Creativity Create a 1 MINUTE group video that displays your understanding of the TPACK, what you have learned and how you plan to share the TPACK Model to enrich technology-enabled learning and teaching. _ Do the video in ONE take, flubs and all!
Your finished videos will be shared before you leave the PD Session today.
